Christmas Day.

In partnership with the Sexual Assault Crisis Service (a program of the YWCA New Britain) & BarRated, we’re hosting Black History Month Trivia!

The YWCA New Britain’s Sexual Assault Crisis Service is an organization that provides free and confidential services to folks impacted by sexual violence, and eliminating racism is a key part of prevention. We are looking forward to a night of recognizing and celebrating Black history, resilience, and joy.

Sign-ups start @ 7PM

Join us for our 2nd Annual Back 2 Black Market on Saturday, Feb. 17! Black-owned and operated small businesses will pop up their shops throughout the Market from 11AM – 5PM. From jewelry and accessories to entertainment, clothing, and other apparel, there will be something for everyone! 

Let the inner artist(s) within you free with The Creative Hour making its return to The Local!

Ashley the Creator is back hosting our Valentine’s paint + sip night from 5:30PM – 7:30PM! Grab some friends (or a date) and come let the creativity flow!

School of Rock’s house band The Luminous Eyes is back and this time they are shining a light on Black Singer/Songwriters! 

This performance will feature tunes from Stevie Wonder, Living Colour, Jimi Hendrix, Bill Withers, Prince, and more.

Mackey Pope, Director of the Luminous Eyes, School of Rock House Band tells us,“This event is a great opportunity for the kids to study the influence Black artists had and continue to have in not just the rock scene, but all music.”

 

Sunday Funday has a new look as we take on exciting, challenging, and inspiring stories and views from Black voices in the community with Dondre Leslie, creator of Golden Gates Party Bus.

We’re kicking off Black History Month with laughs, questions, and perspectives on the Black experience. Join us for every Sunday in February from 12PM – 5PM, in front of The Local!
